HOWARD’S DAILY CHRONICLE

NUMBER 18 VOL 12

JULY 18TH 2008

WEATHER; HOT, MED HUMIDITY, 71/98 DEGREES

 

FINALLY GOT TO GO TO R&D AND THEY TOOK ME BACK TO WHERE ALL THE WRECKED INTREPIDS ARE, THE MAN WHO TOOK ME BACK THERE WENT UNDER THE DASH BOARDS OF 3 CARS AND FOUND THE FLASHER UP NEXT TO THE FUSE PANEL BETWEEN THERE AND THE FIRE WALL! HE PULLED IT OUT AND GAVE IT TO ME! NOW WE’LL HAVE TO SEE IF THAT’S WHERE OURS IS!

DON’T START ME TOO LYING, I WENT OUT TO THE INTREPID THIS EVENING AFTER IT THE TEMPERATURE GOT BELOW 100 AND STARTED CHECKING WIRES TO SEE IF ANY ONE OR MORE OF THEM WOULD COME APART WHERE THEY’RE BUTT CONNECTED TOGETHER! I MOVED ALL THE WIRES I COULD FIND AND THEY ALL SEEM TO BE TIGHT!

I TRIED TO UNPLUG THE IGNITION COIL TO CHECK THOSE WIRES AND NOTICED IT WASN’T LATCHED ALL THE WAY IN SO I PUSHED IT IN TO LATCH! I WENT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE AND MOVED ALL OF THE GANG PLUGS TO SEE IF THEY WERE TIGHT AND THEY ALL WERE!

I OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR AND THE GLOVE BOX TO PUSH THE TRUNK LATCH BUTTON AND WENT IN THE TRUNK TO FIND THE OLD SPARK PLUGS WE TOOK OUT WHEN WE PUT THE BOSCH 4s IN THINKING MAYBE SOME OF THE NEW PLUGS HAD FOULED OUT!

 

AS I STEPPED BACK TO CLOSE THE TRUNK LID I SAW THE TWO REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS FLASHING! I WENT UP TO THE FRONT SEAT AND SAW THE TWO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHING! I TURNED THE 4 WAY SWITCH OFF AND ON AND IT WORKED! 

I WENT IN AND GOT MOM AND THE KEYS AND TRIED THE MULTI SWITCH AFTER TURNING THE 4 WAYS OFF AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FLASHED REAL FAST AND I COULD HEAR THE FLASHER CLICKING!

I MUST HAVE MOVED THE TURN SIGNAL WIRES UNDER THE HOOD AND GOT THEM BACK WHERE THE GO! NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FIND OUT WHY THE FRONTS DON’T WORK! AT LEAST WE CAN TRACE DOWN THE CLICKING AND CHANGE THE FLASHERTO BE SURE IT’S NOT THE REASON THE FRONTS DON’T WORK! WHAT A RELIEF!

 

I’M GOING OUT IN THE MORNING AND SEE IF I MOVED THE WIRES THAT CAUSE IT TO RUN LIKE CRAP! IT MIGHT START AND RUN LIKE IT DID! THEN WE HAVE TO FIND WHICH WIRES I MOVED THAT MADE THE FLASHERS WORK!

 

WE LOOKED AT ALL THE CARS FOR A WIRE HARNESS WITH A GOOD PLUG TO THE CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR BUT THEY’VE ALL BEEN CUT OFF OR THE WHOLE HARNESS IS GONE  SO I GUESS WE’LL JUST HAVE TO MAKE DO WITH WHAT WE’VE GOT!

WHEN THE PEOPLE AT HOYTE’S WERE TELLING ME ABOUT THE WIRING BEING CUT AND SPLICED I BEGAN TO WONDER IF THEY PULLED ON THE WIRES? 

IF THEY DID AND ONE OR MORE OF THEM DIDN’T HAVE A GOOD CRIMP IN THE METAL TUBE IN THE BUTT CONNECTOR THEY COULD HAVE PULLED IT OUT OF THE CONNECTOR ENOUGH TO LOSE CONTACT BUT STILL LOOK LIKE THEY WERE HOOKED UP BECAUSE THE PLASTIC TUBE WAS HOLDING IT IN THE BUTT CONNECTOR! 

 

WE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHEN WE WERE IN THE BUSINESS, ESPECIALLY ON THE “FIELD ENERGIZE WIRE” MAINLY IN FORD PRODUCTS! IT SEEMS THEY CUT THIS WIRE TOO SHORT BEFORE IT WAS MADE PART OF THE HARNESS AND OVER TIME IT WOULD GET MOVED AROUND AND LOOSE CONTACT. THE METAL PART OF THE WIRE WOULD SEPARATE FROM THE PLUG LEAVING THE WIRE COATING ITSELF LOOKING LIKE IT WAS STILL GOOD AND IN CONTACT BUT, WHAT YOU SAW WAS THE WIRE COATING MOULDED INTO THE PLUG. YOU JUST COULDN’T SEE THE METAL PART PULLED AWAY FROM THE CONNECTOR INSIDE! TILL WE LEARNED HOW THIS HAPPENED IT WAS A REAL NIGHTMARE TO TRACE DOWN AND REPAIR! WE WOULD JUST MAKE UP A NEW SHORT LOOM AND BE DONE WITH IT!

 

NOW FOR A TREAT FROM THE PAST!

HOW ABOUT THIS FOR THE ANSWER TO THE HIGH GAS PRICES?

 

THE “NOBEL GAS PLASMA ENGINE” HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME BUT THE OIL COMPANIES DIDN’T WANT ANYBODY TO KNOW ABOUT IT!

I CUT THIS OUT OF A MAGAZINE OVER THIRTY YEARS AGO AND CAME ACROSS IT ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO IN ONE OF MY SCRAP BOOKS, IT’S BEEN ON MY BULLITIN BOARD IN THE COMPUTER ROOM SINCE THEN!

I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO GATHER A GROUP OF POTENTIAL INVESTORS AROUND YOU AND MAKE THEM SEE WHAT YOU SEE.

THE FUTURE OF THE AUTOMOBILE IS IN THE ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEMS! THE INTERNAL COMPUSTION AS WE KNOW IT TODAY IS A THING OF THE PAST!

 

TAKE THE “TESLA” ELECTRIC ROADSTER FOR INSTANCE, RANGE 225 MILES ON ONE CHARGE, RECHARGE LESS THAN 1 HOUR, TOP SPEED 125 MPH! OF COURSE THEY’RE GOING TO USE THE NEW “LITHIUM” BATTERIES THAT THE JAPANESE HAVE DEVELOPED!
