NUMBER 20 VOL 12

WEATHER; HOT, MED HUMIDITY, 73/105 DEGREES

 

FIRST; I’M NOT ABLE TO SEND THE PICTURE OF “THE FASCINATION” TILL WE GET THE DIRECTIONS FROM TIM! THERE’S A CERTAIN WAY YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW TO FORWARD PICTURES IN A BLOG! I’LL SEND IT AS SOON AS I RECEIVE THE DIRECTIONS FROM HIM!

 

TIM GOT HERE THIS MORNING AND WE WENT TO WORK ON THE INTREPID, HE CHECK EVERY SYSTEM WITH A VOLT OHM METER AND FOUND WE HAD NO POWER TO THE IGNITION COIL, ALTERNATOR OR ASD (AUTO SHUT DOWN) RELAY! HE CHECKED ALL THE WIRING HOYTE SAID WAS BAD AND FOUND NO BAD CONNECTIONS!

 FINALLY, I ASKED HIM TO DO ME A FAVOR AND CHECK THE FOUR PLUGS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT! I HAD TRIED TO UNPLUG THEM AND CHECK FOR CORROISION AND BEING LOSE BUT, I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH STRENGTH IN MY HANDS!  HE UNPLUGGED ONE AND IT WAS OK AND, FOR ME TO TRY AND START THE ENGINE! NO LUCK! HE WENT TO THE YELLOW PLUG AND YELLED FOR ME TO WAIT! THE YELLOW PLUG WASN’T PUSHED ALL THE WAY IN, HE UNPLUGGED IT THEN PUSHED IT ALL THE WAY IN THEN TOLD ME TO TRY IT! WHAT A SWEET SOUND, IT STARTED AND SOUNDED LIKE IT DID WHEN WE PULLED IN TO HOYTE’S! THE YELLOW PLUG IS THE CONNECTION FOR ALL THE CIRCUITS HE HAD CHECKED!

THE NEXT STEP WAS TO HOOK UP THE DRB II, AT FIRST HE DIDN’T THINK WE HAD THE PARTS TO HOOK IT UP THEN HE FOUND EVERYTHING AND THEN HE DIDN’T THINK IT WAS GOING TO GIVE ANY READINGS BECAUSE THE PROGRAM WAS FOR ALL CHRYSLER PRODUCTS UP TO 1994 BUT NOT 1995 UP! ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED GIVING THE READING HE WANTED! HE DID SOME FUNNY THINGS WITH THAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, THEN HE WENT TO THE FUEL INJECTORS, 1 OK, 2 LOW BARELY PUTTING OUT 35%, 3 WAY HI NEEDS TO MUCH PRESSURE (61%) TO PUT OUT A GOOD SPRAY, 4 OK, 5 OK, 6 OK!

I KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO LOSE THE POWER IN ONE CYLINDER. YOU LOSE ½ THE POWER OF THE NEXT ONE IN LINE! IF 2 IS LOW AND CAN’T INJECT A GOOD SPRAY IN THE CYLINDER, SAY ONLY 35% OF WHAT’S NEEDED YOU’VE LOST THE POWER FROM THAT CYLINDER AND ½ OF THE NEXT ONE IN LINE!

IF IT TAKES TO MUCH PRESSURE, SAY 61% OF WHAT’S NEEDED TO INJECT A GOOD SPRAY THAT LEAVES ONLY A LITTLE MORE THAN 35% TO INJECT A GOOD SPAY IN 3 WHICH ISN’T ENOUGH!  SO YOU’VE LOST THE POWER OF THAT CYLINDER AND ½ OF THE NEXT ONE IN LINE!

WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO IS THIS, IT’S A V6 WITH SO MUCH HORSEPOWER AND IT DOES FINE ON A FLAT AND LEVEL HIGHWAY BUT, YOU LOSE THE POWER OF ALMOST 3 CYLINDERS (ABOUT 50% OF THE HORSEPOWER) GOING UP A HILL OR INCLINE OF COURSE YOUR GOING TO SLOW DOWN TILL YOU FORCE THE TRANSMISSION INTO A LOWER GEAR TO BUILD RPM! TIM FOUND THIS OUT WHEN HE DROVE THE CAR TODAY, IT LOST POWER ON THE DAM HILL AND HE STEPPED ON IT AND IT STARTED BUILDING RPM UP TO 2500! 

I THINK WE’VE FOUND THE PROBLEM! I’M GOING TO ADD SOME INJECTOR CLEANER AND SEE IF THAT WILL HELP? I MAY HAVE TO HAVE KELLY PULL THE INTAKE, THE INJECTORS ARE UNDER IT AND WE COULD HAVE A LOSE PLUG IN ON THOSE TWO INJECTORS OR SOME OTHER PROBLEM! IF IT DOESN’T I’LL ASK MIKE TO COME OVER AND HELP ME RUN TEST ON THE INJECTORS LIKE WE DID ON OTHER CARS WE’VE HAD, THE 83 E-CLASS AND THE ONE INJECTOR IN THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE 4 CYLINDER OMNIS AND HORIZONS!

 

TIM WENT DOWN TO KELLY’S AND GOT THE EQUIPMENT HE NEEDS TO COMPLETE WHAT HE’S DOING ON HIS HOUSE, DISC, BELT SANDER AND COMPOUND MITER SAW! HIS TIME UP HERE WAS REALLY APPRECIATED! MOM THOUGHT SHE MIGHT HAVE TO BUY A NEW SCANNER BUT HE CHECKED IT OUT AND THEY DETERMINED IT NEEDED THE PROGRAM DELEATED AND REINSTALLED WHICH MOM DID AND IT WORKS FINE! WHEN HE LEFT HERE HE HAD TO TAKE SHANNONS LAP TOP TO HER, THEN GO TO MIKES AND DO SOMETHING ON HIS COMPUTER THEN TO JIM HARMONS AND LOOK AT A 36” BAND SAW JIM HAS FOR SALE! IT’S WELL WORTH WHAT JIM’S ASKING FOR IT IF IT’S ANY GOOD!

 

A POLITICIAN WAS GIVING A CAMPAIGN SPEECH TO AN INDIAN TRIBE! EVERY TIME HE WOULD SAY HE WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING FOR ALL NATIVE AMERICANS THEY WOULD YELL “UNGA, UNGA!”

AFTER THE SPEECH THE CHIEF WAS TAKING HIM AROUND TO SEE THE DIFFERENT THING THE TRIBE WAS DOING TO MAKE MONEY FOR THE THINGS IT NEEDED TO SURVIVE! THEY WERE BUILDING A NEW SCHOOL AND HOSPITAL FROM THE PROCEEDS THAT CAME IN FOR HAND MADE BLANKES, POTTERY, JEWLERY AND COMPETEING AT RODEOS!

HE LED THE POLITICIAN IN TO THE CORRAL TO SEE THEIR CHAMPION ¼ HORSES!  HE WAS WALKING ALONG AND LOOKING AT THE HORSES WHEN THE CHIEF GRABBED HIS ARM AS HE WAS ABOUT TO TAKE A STEP AND SAID, “WHITE MAN BE CAREFUL AND NOT STEP IN “UNGA!”
